J. Michael Oakes
J. Michael Oakes is a native Las Vegan who has practiced law since 1983. His work experience has varied over the years, from initially becoming a partner in a large insurance defense firm, working over ten years as a solo practitioner, and then serving as general counsel, in charge of litigation and transactional work, for a large land development company. Throughout this period, he has earned the respect of his peers, as shown by an AV rating from the highly respected peer rating service of Martindale-Hubbell.
Over the years, he has lectured on various topics, including Motion Practice in Federal Court for the Bridging the Gap series sponsored by the Clark County Bar Association, Enforcement of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions for the Community Associations Institute, and Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods for Homebuilders.
He is an avid tennis player and has also been active as a manager for youth baseball.
